The OCT Desk records major events in active armed conflicts. It is not a live battle blog and not an official intelligence product.

What we publish

• New wars or new fronts
• A city, capital, or key base changing hands
• Ceasefires, collapsed ceasefires, major deals
• Mass-casualty events reported by multiple sources
• A new state entering a war
• Coups, government collapse, leader killed or captured
• Major humanitarian ruptures

We do not publish play-by-play shelling, one-off raids, or single-account rumours.

How confirmation works

X and other open sources are the radar. Speed matters. Mainstream wires are useful later, not required to start.

• Developing — two independent open sources, or one strong primary, and the picture is still moving
• Confirmed — independent sources agree, or OSINT plus official / UN / wire

Twenty accounts repeating one video is still one source. We quote originals. We update the same card instead of flooding.

Sources

OSINT accounts and local reporters on X, official statements, UN OCHA / UNHCR, ICRC, ACLED public notes, Reuters / AFP / AP / BBC when they land.

Limits

Open sources can be wrong, late, or staged. Casualty totals are usually contested. This site is a public draft, not a court record.
